Yet again the might of minor man with a metal detector strikes again, dealing another blow for the misguided few, who wants us banned… why did this not go to a museum ? this has just been sold by Time-Line Auctions… Described as … A bronze warrior figurine, an armed rider sitting astride his horse on a small rectangular base; the male warrior with centre-parted bobbed hair, large pellet eyes and moustache, pointed chin, arms held close to the sides with right hand gripping the reins and left hand and forearm covered by the circular shield with central boss, the legs with ankle-length trousers and pointed shoes…

So, am I correct in understanding that the “controversy” regarding metal detecting is that certain groups want all culturally historic antiquarian finds turned over to the government without the detectorist being compensated? If this is the case, are these groups also proposing that all museum employees work without compensation?
